The Red Wings host the Capitals in a battle of second-place teams with supremely talented Russian forwards tonight.
The story is either Alex Ovechkin vs. Pavel Datsyuk or Jimmy Howard vs. Alex Ovechkin (Howard allowed a hat trick to Ovechkin way back in the 2003 World Junior Championships).
Joey MacDonald will back up Howard, having been brought back from Grand Rapids as Chris Osgood is feeling sore.
Detroit will also be without Ruslan Salei (in California with his pregnant wife), Patrick Eaves (declared healthy but taking a game off after taking yesterday's practice off), and Drew Miller (healthy scratch).
Brian Rafalski returns to the lineup, giving the Wings the chance to give Salei the night off.
The game is on Versus nationally but FSD in Detroit.

Jimmy never got set up, forwards too far down in their own zone. What a waste of Zata's goal.
