Because Mike Modano, Pavel Datsyuk and Danny Cleary weren't enough... Patrick Eaves will miss tonight's game against the New York Islanders with an upper-body injury.

Eaves his coming off of his first career hat trick and is listed as day-to-day.

Tomas Tatar will make his NHL debut, having been called up from the Grand Rapids Griffins to take Eaves' spot in the lineup. Tatar is the Griffins' leading scorer, with 29 points in 35 games.

Jimmy Howard gets the start in net for the Red Wings.

The Islanders are coming off a 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday, in which they stopped Sidney Crosby's scoring streak at 25 games. They're second-to-last in the league but are on a 5-1-1 run.

The injury bug was bound to get us sooner or later... From what I hear, Tatar is supposed to be the man!

Abdelkader getting bounced around the third and fourth line already it looks like.

Tots gets a chance early. Good for him.

Green Day as the soundtrack for Osgood's 400 win video? How very Class of 2000 class song.

Great job finding a hole by Franzen. That shot shouldn't have gotten through.

Game got real scrambly after the Tatar goal. Worried a bit about OT. At least we get a point?

Oh my god, Zata. Missed the net and then a penalty. And Isles got lucky as hell with no call on the slash to Franzen's stick.

Saw that coming.

Murph says the 4-on-3 is hard to defend, Isles did it just fine.

f*ck it, Happy New Year everyone.

We were at the game...Roloson was very, very good. Even though the Wings controlled play and outshot them, the Isles can be fast and physical. Murzak and Tatar are 2 more great prospects...would seem that the Wings are in good shape into the future....

Did you hear that Tampa Bay acquired Roloson? Smart move!
