The Red Wings have six games left in the season and half of them are against the Columbus Blue Jackets, including tonight's matchup in Detroit.

Coming off Tuesday's clusterf*ck of a win over Edmonton, the Wings have now won a season-high six games in a row. They have only three losses since returning from the Olympic Break, one of which was in the shootout.

After Chicago's win last night the Wings are eight points back of the Blackhawks. With six games remaining for each team, that means Chicago needs four points or for Detroit to lose out on four points to clinch the Central Division.

The Nashville Predators, following a 2-0 loss to Los Angeles on Tuesday, are only a point up on the Wings and Detroit has two games in hand. The win put the Kings only a point back of Detroit. The Colorado Avalanche sit four points back and the Calgary Flames are in ninth, six points back with the Wings having a game in hand.

Detroit, Nashville and Los Angeles all play tonight. A win by the Wings combined with the Preds losing to St. Louis puts the Red Wings in fifth. A loss by Detroit combined with an LA win over Vancouver drops the Wings to seventh.

Jimmy Howard gets the start.

I've got a soccer game tonight so I'll miss most of this one live.

This shouldn't matter because the Red Wings should have had several more goals tonight, but I can't believe Todd Bertuzzi's third-period goal counted.

Any of Johan Franzen's chances early on go in and that goal doesn't matter but in the end it did matter and it did count, and while I'm pleased with the result I disagree with the call.

Obviously, I can't say for certain that Bertuzzi intentionally deflected the puck in with his skate. I just think that there was more of a "distinct kicking motion" there than we've seen on other goals that went disallowed this season.

I missed a lot of the game so I won't try to recap all of it, that goal just sticks with me pretty strongly.
