The Red Wings make a rare trip to Montreal in the second of back-to-back games, which the Canadiens are also coming off of.

Detroit, of course, blew it against the Florida Panthers last night and picked up an OTL. The Canadiens held on to win in Washington, which gives them the odd position of being the home team but having to travel further between games. That should probably prove that the Wings need to be in the Eastern Conference but it'll never happen.

The only lineup change the Wings are making for certain is that Jimmy Howard gets the start in net. There was no morning skate for either team to get a look at late line changes.

With Scott Gomez out, Glen Metropolit will play with Mike Cammalleri and Travis Moen on Montreal's top line.

Like Florida, the Canadiens appear to me to be a very shallow team relying on goaltending right now. Since the Wings still couldn't beat the Panthers, that might not mean anything.

Game time is 7:00 for the HNiC broadcast but Detroit will get the Leafs - Caps game as Windsor is in Toronto territory. FSD has the local coverage.

How many cheap plays can Laraque make in one shift? He totally reached out on Kronwall.

Stuie powers one through and there's still two minutes of power play left.

I'd be p*ssed if I was a Canadiens fan, that cross check in front of the net never gets called. I think it should be but it's never called.

Kronwall won't be back, Wings say it's a left knee injury. f*cking fantastic.

Four penalties, two goals. Sorry, I'd trade both for a healthy Kronwall.

I was beginning to think they weren't going to get another one on that powerlay for all the shots, then bang!

I didn't tune in until just before the first goal, how did Kronwall get injured?
Jesus, another 5-on-3. They should put a revolving door on that penalty box.

Knee-on-knee hit from Laraque. That was the third of Laraque's penalties.

Stupid play by Abs. Push and shove but you're gonna get caught if you've got the other guy's stick and he doesn't.

Thanks, just saw it just now in a replay. Nasty.

Quite possibly the weirdest period I've seen all season.

And I never even got the chance to mention that seeing Montreal in blue is really damned weird.

Well that period was boring. Yawn. But I'll take it.

Hell yeah. Give me one more completely uneventful period and get out of this game with a win and no more injuries.

Does anyone think the league will investigate that hit?

I blame John Keating for talking about a shutout at intermission.

Yep, didn't see this coming at all.

Zata doesn't make the big play. That's rare.

At least we get a point. That's not even a question tonight, the Wings don't deserve it this time around.
