Nashville lost last night so the Wings can pull to within 3 points with a win tonight, using up their game in hand.

Refs have been surprisingly quiet and (unsurprisingly) the game's had good flow. Neither team seems to be playing all that well.
Holy sh*t, Ryan Johnson didn't even try to hide that goalie interference. And Andy Murray has the balls to try and argue it.
Johnson's lucky the Wings are pretty spineless, he should have been beat to hell. Will there be a response from the Wings later?
Apparently there'll be one on the scoreboard now. Good enough for me.

I ended up making it back in time to catch all but the first five minutes of the first. Had been planning on going to my soccer game in the third period tonight but screw that, my back is killing me. Unfortunately, my DVR decided not to record anything, so I missed those early goals.

Yzer, I don't really plan on hanging around a whole lot probably, and certainly not stirring up trouble.
But you're gonna tell me the refs got that right?
You have a right to a lane to the goal. Johnson took the puck in and got a shot. Waiving the rebound goal off was weak. Calling the penalty was absolute crap. And letting the Wings get away with murdering Johnson in the corner was beyond unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
What a ridiculous unfair swing of events. When is the NHL gonna make this crap stop?

Skaters are supposed to make every possible effort to avoid the goalie. Johnson made none. None at all. And if that's because of the tap on the skate he got making him lose control, he's not a good enough skater to be in the NHL.
Johnson's a fantastic skater, so that's not it. Johnson still had the puck till he was in the crease. There was literally no where for him to go. He tried to go up and that didn't work.

I've got this going on YouTube right now for easy review.
Right there, Backes bangs away at the puck in the crease but shifts around Hasek before going over him. Johnson didn't make that move to go around.
Wow, great pass by Zetterberg to Holmstrom and a nifty move by Homer.

Here's the video of Johnson:
And the Wings get a shorthanded goal of their own!

Congrats on the win.
I'm p*ssed. But just overall. Refs sucked, hurt us some. But when you have like 5 PPs including a 5-3 and can't score, don't go blaming games on the refs.
To come so close to being right by that 8th spot and then p*ssing points away in three straight games is awfully frustrating.
Also, watch Johnson's head. He never sees Hasek until it's too late.
He had no time to get out of the way. His only other option might have been to slam himself into the metal post.

And STL, we disagree on that penalty but you're welcome to talk hockey around here whenever you want.

I agree with what Mickey just said, one of the more entertaining games this season.
Really?
I thought it was one of the sloppier games all year. Both teams kept fumbling the puck. Two shorthanded goals not from great PKing but from PP turnovers. Both teams getting ticked at eachother, but the refs not letting them have any fights (or maybe the Wings wouldn't fight--not poking fun, but I believe the Wings just in general are considered to not have a real tough guy). Inconsistant reffing.
Surely it doesn't help that I lost, but I found it to be a pretty hard game to watch.

I might take you up on that, but generally I have trouble checking more than a few message boards on a regular basis.
But if nothing else, I'll certainly come by for Blues-Wings threads.

I think it was that it was a close game the whole time. I didn't say it was the best game (neither did Mickey, IIRC), just that it was entertaining.

That's fair.
I suppose I might think that had it ended the other way.
Perhaps it's a negative trait, but I just about never find games exciting if it's not a win. Probably lie to myself, but eh. Ya know...
Actually, earlier in the year I might have found this more exciting. But now that the Blues have proven capable, I can't settle for just being close anymore.
