Im not sure if this is too much of a pain to do, but on the DFHL main page, under the today's games heading somewhere, it would be cool to see the top 3 performers of the night.

I'd thought about that but determined that "top performer" is fairly subjective, honestly, I don't want to have to take the time to pick people each day.

The way I see it, it can't be strictly stat-based because which is better, 4 second assists, a hat trick, one goal that happens to be the game-winner in an OT game, a shutout with 18 saves, or a loss with 43 saves?

I know what you mean, but maybe something like this
Top goalie of the night
shutout - if a tie, then most saves gets top goalie
next would be best save %, if a tie, then most saves gets top goalie
Top scorers - 3 players with the most points, if a tie, most goals gets 1st..
if there is still a tie, best +/- wins

something like that, and if you can't make a script to do it then thats too much work to do every night

We could probably do that. Any thoughts from anyone else?

To do it less frequently, you may may want to have it on a weekly basis, similar to the NHL three stars they are currently doing rather than having player of the week honours.

I've added a "Three Stars" section to the DFHL home page. It's subjective in that I created a point system that tries to account for a ton of stuff but I know it's not perfect. I'll keep an eye on it and see what could be tweaked to make it better.

This may be too much however, I will give it a shot.

Is it possible to put something on members profiles that says "5 year member" " Top poster for the month of XXX", etc, etc? and have it show up on forum posts?

The first one is essentially accomplished by the "Join Date" that shows up to the left of each person's post. It would be possible, though. Another version of that is done over at Hockey Rodent's forums, where each user's "board day" (anniversary of when they signed up) is celebrated.

The "top poster" one is much more difficult, to the point that I don't think it'd be worth trying.

Based on volume of posts or the quality of posts? Do posts for the DFHL count as much as posts in the other sections?

Is it possible to have the top five teams from each conference posted on the main page? In addition, can you show where the Wings stand in relation to the other five?

That one would be a little tough because I don't currently keep standings info anywhere, though I've thought about it for awhile. I'll keep this idea on my mental whiteboard until I find a way to handle standings data in general.
